First Sign of Spring

While longer days and bright sun are nice, a sure sign of spring for this Vespa rider is the appearance of a motorcycle parking space at my office as the snow and ice recede.

The weather forecast predicts 30F and sunny for the ride home. Almost ready to put the Gerbing electric gloves away until next year...

They are predicting 60 (yes, its true!) tomorrow here in NY and I am furiously shoveling the pile of snow in front of my studio, for that is where my Vespa has been hibernating. My wife is laughing at the apparent boyish glee with which I perform my task. Its been too long.

Dear Steve:

Winter isn't over until the fat lady gets up to sing, March being the fat lady.

Winter? What is this winter of which you write?

We won't be seeing melting snow and ice in the parking lots until well into April. Usually I can't even get the bike out of the driveway until the end of April/beginning of May.

Aurelio: Why is it that wives make fun of us when we act like kids and have fun???

Mr. Riepe: I hope you are right. I cannot stand much more cold weather. Kim and I have been thinking of moving to Key West though Mr. Conch seems intent on ruining that dream...

Dear Joe Riepe: How many times did your older brother drop you on your head?

RichardM: Winter until April or May... That's interesting. How often does your physician have to change your medication?
